LERNER/COOPER RESIDENCE
Alix Henry, AIA & David Henry, AIA | Henry Architects LLC
“Casa de Del Maguey” arose from the owner’s desire to convert the existing adobe residence to a private gallery for exhibiting their extensive collection of paintings, photographs, and contemporary sculpture. Additional program elements included a new Master Suite, open Kitchen/Dining, and private courtyards for entertaining outdoors. Overhead glazed doors in the Solarium and Kitchen/Dining areas allow the owner’s to display their collection of vintage automobiles within the home. Abundant natural light from large overhead skylights and storefront glazing offers ever changing displays of shadows and enables the home to become an active sculpture formed from the sun, clouds, and shadows from the mature Cottonwoods peaking in through the ridge skylight.
